Where will all the eyes be?

This year, there is a clear anticipation for the final match-up, centering around Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz. With the absence of Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal from the scene, a fresh rivalry has blossomed between these two players, resulting in a series of remarkable matches.

Novak Djokovic so far has looked unstoppable with easy wins and dominant tennis, Carlos Alcaraz on the other hand has not been tested yet but will be on court today. Seeds have started to fall with Khachanov, Ruud, Rune, Tsitsipas and Musetti all out of the tournament already.

US Open Day 4 Best Bets and Tennis Predictions

Here are our US Open Day 4 Tennis Predictions:

Jannik Sinner maintained his streak of not dropping a set in opening slam rounds, breezing past Yannick Hanfmann 6-3, 6-1, 6-1. Similar dominance was evident against Edmund, Müller, and Cerundolo. Despite his consistent slam performance and hard court prowess, Sinner’s fitness remains uncertain due to recent retirements.

Sinner’s aim is to navigate initial rounds with energy preservation, unlike last year’s US Open, where he engaged in grueling five-set clashes. Lorenzo Sonego ended a losing streak by defeating Moreno De Alboran in three sets. Sonego seeks to break his second-round barrier at the US Open.

Sonego’s 21/22 record includes wins over top-20 players but inconsistency against underdogs. Head-to-head, Sinner leads 2-0. Sonego’s competitiveness hinges on Sinner’s condition, making an opening if Sinner falters.

Prediction: Sinner 3-0 v Sonego @ 2.00 (US Open Day 4)

Andy Murray sailed through a challenging test in the US Open’s first round, defeating Corentin Moutet in straight sets. Despite Moutet’s potential to extend matches, Murray cruised similarly at Wimbledon, losing a five-setter to Tsitsipas in the second round.

Murray’s win over Moutet marked his 200th grand slam victory, joining Djokovic and Nadal in an exclusive club. Facing Grigor Dimitrov in round two adds intrigue, given Murray’s thrilling matches against top opponents this year, including two five-set battles at Wimbledon.

Dimitrov’s form dipped since 2017, struggling against underdogs due to inconsistency. Although he saved match points against Molcan in round one, his confidence and consistency have improved this year. His losses were against elite players.

Dimitrov’s US Open history contrasts; from reaching semis in 2019 to three consecutive second-round exits. Head-to-head, Murray leads 8-3, favored for mental strength, though fitness levels could even the odds. Both players’ 2023 performances suggest a competitive match ahead.

Prediction: Murray to beat Dimitrov @ 2.00 (US Open Day 4)

Matteo Berrettini has faced numerous challenges this year, but defeating French players hasn’t been one. He dominated Maxime Cressy and Gregoire Barrere earlier and continued by beating Ugo Humbert in the US Open’s first round. Humbert has had success in North America.

Fitness issues have plagued Berrettini, impacting his ranking and results this year. He achieved back-to-back wins only twice in tour-level events. Notably, he reached Wimbledon’s round of 16 on grass, showcasing his strength on the surface.

Berrettini’s enjoyment in New York is evident through his strong track record. He reached his first Grand Slam semifinal in 2019 and quarterfinals in the last two editions. He remains unbeaten against French opponents, holding a 7-0 record.

Arthur Rinderknech faced fitness issues but played more than Berrettini, though often at the Challenger level. A loss in Winston-Salem preceded his favorable draw against Schwartzman at the US Open.

Despite a productive 30 months on the main tour, Rinderknech struggles in Grand Slams, especially the US Open with a 0-3 second-round record.

Head-to-head: 0-0. Berrettini, despite his current form, is expected to draw on his past success and overcome Rinderknech’s struggles to secure a victory at the US Open.

Prediction: Berrettini 3-0 v Rinderknech @ 2.50 (US Open Day 4)

Andrey Rublev received a welcome break when Emil Ruusuvuori withdrew from their US Open first-round match. This came as a relief considering Rublev’s difficulties against Ruusuvuori, especially their recent Cincinnati Masters match where he lost in three sets. Arthur Cazaux replaced Ruusuvuori, and Rublev won in straight sets, extending his New York first-round winning streak to five matches.

Rublev has improved his performance at tournaments above the ATP 500 level in recent years. He won his first Masters title in Monte Carlo this season and reached quarterfinals at Grand Slam events, including the Australian Open and Wimbledon, where he fell to Novak Djokovic.

The US Open has been favorable for Rublev, with significant achievements like his 2017 and 2020 quarterfinal placements. In 2022, he reached the quarterfinals, defeating players like Denis Shapovalov and Cameron Norrie.

During the North American swing, Rublev faced challenges while Gael Monfils experienced a resurgence. Monfils’ best stretch of the season aligned with this period, resulting in notable wins, including against higher-ranked players like Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alex de Minaur.

Monfils struggled against top-10 players in Grand Slam matches, holding a ten-match losing streak since his 2014 victory over Grigor Dimitrov at the US Open.

Head-to-head: Tied at 1-1. Rublev’s susceptibility to frustration could be exploited by Monfils, making this an intriguing challenge for Rublev as he navigates the match.

Prediction: Monfils to beat Rublev @ 2.40 (US Open Day 4)
