Positive Impact displayed an impressive performance when winning a 1-mile handicap at Kempton in his final start as a 3-year-old. He didn’t perform up to par in two outings in Dubai at the start of 2023 but showed signs of improvement at Ascot three weeks ago, likely needing that run. With cheekpieces back on this time and considering his past strong performances here, he could be poised for a comeback victory, especially with jockey Buick aboard. Other contenders to consider in this competitive race include Lord Bertie, a potentially progressive 3-year-old, and Boardman, who has a solid track record.

Indemnify returned from an 8-month break and comfortably won a 9-runner handicap at Newmarket in his final run under Roger Varian. His best performance for his current yard was a good fourth here over 1 mile two weeks ago. He was denied a clear run and had more to give. He remains a contender off the same mark despite being top weight
Lyndon B didn’t have things go his way at Newmarket last time, so he deserves another chance to show his potential, especially given his promising performance at Newbury from a tempting handicap mark.
The progressive 3-year-old Tough Enough stepped up his game, delivering a strong performance over the same course and distance last month and is another one to consider.

There’s no shortage of intriguing contenders to consider, however the one I want to be with is Aimeric. This runner showcased his capabilities with a triumphant return at Doncaster, leaving no doubt about his form. While he faced a bit of a setback at Newmarket recently he had excuses that day finishing lame and is taken to continue his progression here
Dream Harder, who has been making waves since joining his current yard last winter. With five victories under his belt, including a successful outing on turf at Chester should go well while Fulfilled, a progressive son of Ulysses has two wins this campaign, including a confident victory at Lingfield. His staying-on third at Windsor in the last outing suggests he could get back to his winning ways if the race unfolds in his favour.

Potapova, who showed impressive form when winning this race last year, hasn’t reached the same level of performance this season. However, her recent fifth-place finish in a Group 2 race at Royal Ascot suggests she’s still competitive. To repeat last year’s victory, she’ll need to return to her best form, but she’s known to perform well here, and Ryan Moore retains the ride.
Heredia is in excellent form, having won her first four starts, including the Sandringham Handicap at Royal Ascot in 2022. She resumed her winning ways at Haydock three weeks ago, where she triumphed by a convincing 3¾ lengths over Purplepay. With her current form, she looks like the main danger.
There’s a good mix of seasoned contenders and promising up-and-comers set to battle it out here and my view is that Apollo One stands as a top choice in this competitive field. His impressive form on both turf and the all-weather towards the end of last season has seamlessly transitioned into this year. Placing in all four starts in competitive 6f handicaps, including notable events like the Wokingham and Stewards’ Cup.
Tis Marvellous Hasn’t found his stride this season, however his track record speaks volumes, having won this very race 12 months ago and the 2021 edition as well. With the potential to bounce back. , Kerdos is another interesting prospect, showing promise with a respectable fifth-place finish in a Group 2 race at Goodwood. However Apollo One’s consistent form and adaptability make him my choice
Lord Protector emerges as a formidable contender primarily due to his impressive track record and recent performances. His exceptional course and distance record along with a recent victory in a Class 2 event in July serves as a strong testament to his current form.
Despite a sixth-place finish at Glorious Goodwood, that was still a good effort in a stronger race than this. His yard continues in great nick. Other form contenders include the likes Certain Lad, Andaleep.

Military Order had a disappointing run when considered one of the favourites for the Derby. However, the track conditions and quick ground might have been factors affecting his performance, given his size. He had previously left a strong impression at Lingfield, and this race offers a chance for him to bounce back. Lone Eagle showed promise with a good second-place finish in the Ormonde Stakes here and should not be ruled out in this less challenging company. Divine Jewel also deserves respect in this competitive field.

Aablan is the one who catches the eye here.. This Dubawi colt recently burst onto the scene with a debut win at Newmarket, and boy, what a debut it was making light work of his opposition and justifying his short odds. With such a strong start and a pedigree to match, Aablan is my top pick for this race, and I’m eager to see how he’ll perform in future competitions.
Cerulean Bay comes here boasting victories at Hamilton and Ayr. While Devil’s Point has been steadily building promise, notching a convincing maiden win at Ffos Las. Inishfallen ran well with a good third-place finish in a York nursery, although this race might demand a bit more. Mortlake is coming off a smooth win at Leicester and let’s not forget Starlore, who triumphed over the same course and distance in July – there’s no doubt that he’s got more in store. Still, the pick is , Aablan’s his debut win and his top-notch yard make him the standout contender in this race.
