Yesterday we got to enjoy 3 different finals and here at Bestbetguide we were only one set away from predicting the exact outcomes of these finals. In the first final at Banja Luka in Bosnia and Herzegovina we saw Andrey Rublev getting upset by Dusan Lajovic in 3 sets; 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. This was a big win for the 32 year old Serbian player being just his second career title and beating Novak Djokovic on the way will mean extra. The second winner of the was less of a surprise! Carlos Alcaraz was a comfortable winner over Stefanos Tsitsipas winning 6-3, 6-4 proving that he is one of the favourites to win the French Open. The young Spaniard used a variety of power and angles and was consistent throughout the match proving to strong for the Greek number 1. The third winner of the day was not a surprise as well. Holger Rune made up for a tough loss in Monte Carlo by bouncing back and beating Botic Van De Zandschulp in 3 sets to win his first title of the season and 4th in his young career. Van De Zandschulp had a good week but will be very disappointed in the end as at one one point he was 5-2 up in the third and also had 4 Championship points.
This week we will have another Masters 1000 event that will be held in Madrid. Unfortunately there was some sad news yesterday as Novak Djokovic announced that he will not be playing in the event as he can not compete at the level he wants with his elbow injury. That means that this tournament will be without both Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal and they are now in a race against time to get to full fitness for Roland Garros. This tournament will be played over 2 weeks and today there will be qualifying rounds held with main draw matches starting tomorrow.
