Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina)

Andrey Rublev continued his magical clay court form in Bosnia and Herzegovina with another controlled win in straight sets against Alex Molcan 6-2, 6-4. The Russian world number 6 played an aggressive game, taking the ball early and going for winner after winner which proved to be too much for Molcan in the first set. The Slovak however put up a tougher fight repeatedly breaking Rublev back and tying the set before Rublev eventually closed the match. Dusan Lajovic against Miomir Kecmanovic was a much closer contest however. Kecmanovic came into the match as favourite but Lajovic still high in confidence after the win against Novak Djokovic fought from a set down to win 4-6, 7-6, 6-4.

Final Preview/Prediction: Andrey Rublev will go into the final as a heavy favourite considering his recent form and also his overall ranking. However the head to head is 2-0 in favour of the Serb and his form is also very good after the level of tennis he has played this week. Despite the odds I am backing Dusan Lajovic here.

Barcelona Open

In the first semi final of the day we saw the Greek star Stefanos Tsitsipas attempting to reach his first clay court final of the year and with his form slowly improving match after match he was favourite to do so. However the young Italian Lorenzo Musetti was not going to lay down easy and in fact defended and rallied well often putting Tsitsipas in tough spots. In the end the Greek player won 4-6, 7-5, 6-3. The second semi final had less of a tale to describe as Carlos Alcaraz proved too strong for Dan Evans despite the Brit pulling off some great performances during the week. The final score was 6-2, 6-2 for Carlos Alcaraz.

Final Preview/Prediction: Despite both these players being so young especially the Spaniard, they have already met 3 times with all of these matches going to Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard has a stronger backhand and I believe he will target the Tsitsipas backhand if he is trouble and will take the Head to Head to 4-0 in straight sets.

Munich Open

As expected Holger Rune was the first finalist of the Munich Open proving too strong for Christopher O’Connell winning 6-3, 6-2 and proving too strong for the Dutchman. Botic Van De Zandschulp on the other provided the German public quite the surprise when he beat world number 10 and second seed Taylor Fritz 6-4, 7-6.

Final Preview/Prediction: Technically this will be the second meeting for these 2 however the first meeting ended in a retirement with not even a set being completed. Both players are on good form however the Dane has proven to be on another level and will want to make up for the lost final last week. I believe Holger Rune will win in straight sets.
