Bet Of The Day Sligo Rovers vs Cork City 15th July: Clash at The Showgrounds
Bet Of The Day South Africa v Zambia Our best Football Bet Of The Day. Match preview and stats from our leading experts.
Bet Of The Day Sligo Rovers vs Cork City
Sligo Rovers and Cork City are set to face each other in the lone Premier Division game on Saturday evening at The Showgrounds. Both teams experienced late dramas in their previous matches, with Sligo Rovers conceding a 95th-minute goal to suffer a 2-1 loss against Derry City, while Cork City salvaged a late stoppage-time equalizer to secure a draw against second-placed St. Patrick’s Athletic.
Sligo Rovers have been struggling to find consistent form over the past couple of months. With only two wins in their last ten league fixtures and seven losses during that period, head coach John Russell’s side has been facing issues in defense. The team has failed to keep a clean sheet in nine of their last ten league games, even conceding two goals in a recent away defeat against the bottom-placed UC Dublin.
On the other hand, Cork City has shown improvement in their defensive performances. Although they still possess the second-worst defensive record in the league, their backline has displayed more solidity compared to earlier in the season. Despite being winless in their last four matches, Cork City’s performances against strong opponents like Dundalk, Derry City, Drogheda, and St. Patrick’s Athletic provide reasons for optimism among their fans.
When considering the head-to-head record, Cork City holds the advantage over Sligo Rovers. In the last 68 meetings between the two teams, Cork City has recorded 32 wins, 18 draws, and only 18 losses. Moreover, Cork City has secured two wins and a draw in their last three encounters against Sligo Rovers. Additionally, the past six head-to-head matches have witnessed at least three goals, except for one exception.
These two teams have had almost identical performances since the start of the season, with Sligo Rovers having just one extra win. In terms of goals, both sides have displayed similar statistics. Despite being considered among the weaker teams in the league, they have proven their ability to score against weaker opponents. Moreover, four of their last five meetings have resulted in both teams finding the back of the net. Hence, we predict that both teams will score in this match.
