1.50 York: Mondammej 14/1 Each Way
Trained by Alan Brittain ridden by Cam Hardie down to a mark of 97 now after some below par efforts last summer. Was some promise in his return this year and is seriously well treated if can return to the form of when second in a listed rover course and distance last July. Losing run dates back to 2021 but he’s back on his last successful mark and last month’s keeping-on fifth at Ripon will have blown away the cobwebs
2.25 York: Free Wind 5/4
The lightly raced filly Free Wind has been kept in training this season, which is a strong indication of confidence from trainer John Gosden. With Frankie Dettori in the saddle, Free Wind returns after her scintillating victory in the Lancashire Oaks last summer. Despite her absence, she possesses the best form in the field and should easily confirm herself as a high-class filly. Aristia, the runner-up in this event 12 months ago, could emerge as the main threat, with returning duo Sea Silk Road and Toskana Belle also worth considering.

3.00 York: Brunch 16/1 – Northern Express 7/1
In this handicap race, Brunch and Northern Express, both trained by Dods, stand out as strong contenders. While the vibes and impressive victory of Assessment last time suggest potential group class, the short odds are not justified given the relatively low class 4 handicap he won. Therefore, we lean towards Brunch and Northern Express. The latter was a convincing winner last time and has previously tasted success at York. Brunch, a course and distance winner, is gradually receiving assistance from the handicapper and will appreciate the return to fast ground

3.35 York: Flying Honours NAP 11/2
The Dante, a highly competitive race, presents a challenging betting proposition. With several horses expected to improve, it’s hard to have complete confidence in any particular contender. However, one horse that catches the eye is Flying Honours, representing the Godolphin stable. Having shown promise as a useful juvenile, including a win in the Zetland Stakes, this son of Sea The Stars appears poised for further progression as a three-year-old. With the likely quick ground suiting his running style, Flying Honours deserves serious consideration.

4.10 York: Silent Words 7/1 Next Best
While Wallbank stands out based on two-year-old form and deserves respect, the decision of jockey Danny Tudhope to stick with Silent Words, trained by Kevin Ryan, adds intrigue to this race. Silent Words broke his maiden on debut at Newcastle and showed significant improvement when finishing second in a minor event at Hamilton. Though he faces a bigger challenge here, his upward trajectory makes him an interesting contender

4.45 York: Air Force One 14/1 – Varden 11/1
In this race, Cuban Thunder and Emperor Of Rome are expected to improve from their debut performances and should be respected. The Godolphin runner Impressive Act also enters calculations. However, it could be worth taking a chance on Air Force One and Varden at longer odds. Both horses possess early speed in their pedigrees and hail from yards that have a history of success at York’s Knaversmire.
5.15 York: Baltic Voyage 9/1 – Latin Verse 25/1
Trainer Andrew Balding demonstrated his prowess in York handicaps on Wednesday, making his runner Torre Del Oro one to watch despite the step up in grade. Meanwhile, Ralph Beckett has a strong record with his three-year-olds at York, and we suggest considering both his runners here. Baltic Voyage, a Frankel colt, is expected to excel as a three-year-old, and the booking of Frankie Dettori adds further intrigue. Latin Verse, equipped with blinkers for the first time, should benefit from the ground conditions and is another worth considering.
