Our racing expert from the Punters Preview provides his best horse racing tips each and every day. A bumper day of racing with the ITV cameras at 3 meetings including the Derby trial meeting at Lingfield which is now due to be ran on the All-Weather course. Read on for the best ITV horse racing tips.
Savvy Knight won three races last year and he returned to action recently, finishing fourth in a handicap at Kempton over 11 furlongs. Despite not winning, he put in a good performance and is expected to do well again, especially since he is running off an unchanged mark. Harry Davies is in the saddle claiming 3lb and has a 35% strike rate for the stable.
The Karl Burke trained Tothenines looks to be finally getting some assistance from the handicapper and down to a mark of 74 in this easier grade than most of his recent runs he looks to hold claims. I think a fast run 7f could suit round here as he tends to travel well into his races
Julia Augusta seems to be a promising filly with a good record so far it`s interesting connections keep her going at 4 suggesting they expect her to progress into something better than a handicapper. She won her only 2-year-old start convincingly at Kempton and impressed in a Thirsk novice on her return last June. Although she only finished third in a 5-runner handicap at Newbury, the form from that race is strong and providing the ground is not too testing looks a fair price against a couple of potential improvers in the shape of Mountain Song and Timeless Melody.
Potentially not much between the front 3 in the market here however with Queen Aminatu already being proven here with a course and distance victory last Autumn she just gets the nod. Things did not go right for her at the Curragh 12 days ago but she is 4 from 6 on synthetic surfaces and she is expected to bounce back here.
With the form of Bright Diamond and Perfect Prophet not looking the strongest of races for the grades and with Godolphin running both Eternal Hope and Sunset Point (maybe neither standout) then this looks a good opportunity for the Aidan O`Brien filly Be Happy. Impressive winner on debut she ran a bit below expectation next time at the Curragh. This is a different test thought to that day and she appeals as a handy type who will appreciate Lingfield and connections would not be bringing her over if not to this level.
Brentford Hope is a useful Flat performer who has transitioned well to hurdles under his new trainer Harry Derham after being purchased for 90,000 gns. He has won both of his starts over hurdles, including a 2m novice hurdle at Huntingdon last month where he made all. He is capable of improving further and appeals as the type to thrive in a big-field handicap.
Military Order is likely to be a warm order here for Godolphin after his impressive return this season. Circle Of Fire and the once raced Inquiring Minds also represent top stables. However, at bigger odds currently I`m happy to take a chance on the Willima Haggas trained Laafi. He stepped up on debut to win a decent looking maiden at Nottingham on his second start last season, his pedigree suggest this step up to middle distances would always be more favourable and he looks underestimated by the market with his future potential to come.
