3.40 Curragh – Royal Scotsman

The big race today in Ireland is the Irish 2000 guineas, and that’s where my nap is running.
Royal Scotsman is a horse I absolutely love and of all the runners in the English 2000 guineas you could argue he was the most unlucky. He was drawn on the wrong side of the track, he had a troubled run getting stopped in his run by horses hanging right into his path and he pulled like a train!
The fact that he pulled so hard and still came 3rd says alot about his ability, and he rates a strong bet.
Yes he’s favourite but 2/1 looks a very fair price. I would have him more 6/4 or even shorter.
If Jamie Spencer can get him too settle I think he wins .
Spencer can be a annoying jockey at times but has a decent curragh record , just hope he doesn’t get too far behind.

2.25 haydock – Defence of fort

Covey is clearly at interesting runner for John and thady gosden, but is priced up on trainer and jockey rather than form on the track, so at a much bigger price I’ll chance the Peter chapple- hyam trained defence of fort.
Impressive winner on debut at Ascot last year, beating Berkshire phantom by over four lengths , 3 runners in that race have gone on too win since.
He’s then been chucked in at the deep end at sandown in the group 3 solario stakes and wasn’t beaten all that far my the now 115 rated silver knot. He goes into his first handicap today off a mark of 88 which might underplay his ability, and the fact the trainer isn’t that well known as some in the race your getting a bigger price than he should be.
Ground won’t be an issue and bred too be better over further in time but should get the mile today.

3.30 haydock – Dramatised ew and raasel ew

The temple stakes is the highlight on a great card at haydock today with alot of great horses on show, and I like 2 against the field. First one is dramatised for the inform Karl Burke.
Dramatised was a very good 2yo winning 2 of her 4 runs last year , including a win at royal Ascot in the queen Mary stakes. She could even better at 3 . William Buick is an eyecatching jockey booking, and winning on debut last year, so hopefully fresh is the time to catch her .
The other selection is raasel for Mick Appleby. He ran well lto in the group 3 palace house stakes on ground that didn’t suit him , and I expect a much better run on the forecast good ground. In the palace house stakes he had get ahead 2 places behind , yesterday get ahead won when liking the better ground and I’m hoping raasel does the same.hes won at the track off a higher mark last season, and at double figure odds I think he’s great value.
