It was Quarter Finals day yesterday on Friday the 8th where once again Houston provided barely any tennis at all and it will be a wonder if they manage to finish the tournament at all. On the other hand we had a full schedule at both Estoril and Marrakech. Starting with Estoril despite having some hard fought matches all the quarter final matches finished in straight sets win, the most surprising being Dominic Thiem getting beat so decisively by Quentin Halys with the score line of 6-1, 6-4 which again puts a halt on Thiem’s comeback. On the other hand Casper Ruud continued his return to form with a dominant 6-3. 6-0 win. 30 year old Italian Marco Cecchinato continued his impressive week wiht a 7-5, 7-6 win over Davidovich Fokina and also Miomir Kecmanovic looked very good in his straight sets win over Zapata Miralles. Over in Marrakech brit Dan Evans looked very determined in his win against Vavassori 6-3, 7-5 but surprisingly Lorenzo Musetti did not maintain his form and lost to Muller in 3 sets. Wins also for Caraballes Baena and Kotov.

Here are my predictions for today’s semi finals:

Kecmanovic 2-0 Cecchinato
Ruud 2-1 Halys
Evans to beat Carballes Baena
Muller 2-0 Kotov
