After a fortnight of top level tennis and some unforgettable matches it all boiled down to one last match between Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev to decide who takes the trophy home. Odds for the match suggested a 50/50 match with both players on great form and the first few games suggested that with some very long rallies and tight games. Sinner seemed to take the first advantage with a break taking him to a 3-2 lead but Medvedev quickly broke back taking the match to 3-3. The first set looked to be going to the wire and to a tie break but the young Italian lost his serve on the last hurdle giving the first set to Medvedev. Sinner started showing some physical problems during the second set where it seemed like the long fortnight of tennis had an impact on his condition, giving the opportunity to Medvedev to take control of the second set and take it 6-3 and crowning him as champion. This match may not have been as spectacular as the fans expected but there will be many more opportunities to see these 2 champions battle it out throughout the season with the next ATP stops being Estoril, Houston and Marrakech which mark the beginning of the clay court season.
