Carlos Alcaraz and Borna Coric took the court for yesterday’s first Semi Final with the Spaniard starting the match as the heavy favourite despite Coric playing some of his best tennis in the lead up to the match. Coric started the match well and kept up with young Spaniard’s hard ground strokes and the first few games were very long with multiple deuces. The first break of the match came when the Croatian was serving at 2-2 with Alcaraz breaking decisively and didn’t look back taking the set 6-4. The second set started with back to back breaks from both players until Carlos Alcaraz once again took command of the set with heavy shots and an impressive variety of drop shots and even some good net play. The Spaniard took the set and match 6-3 which was the perfect birthday present for the now 20 year old. He will face Jan-Lennard Struff in the final who prevailed in a 3 set battle with Aslan Karatsev. The Russian started the match well with fearless winner form both wings, despite Struff also not shying away from going for winners. Karatsev took the first set 6-4 and looked on course for beating Struff for the second time in one tournament. The German however took lessons from the first match and upped his level and consistency to take the second and third set with just one break in every set for a final score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. This was the first time that a Lucky Loser reached the final of such a high level tournament. Here is what Struff said about the final match up against Alcaraz:

Today there will not be any Masters 1000 play as the final will be played on Sunday, however there are 2 challenger semi finals with some big names on court and this is how I think they will go:
Paul 2-0 Goffin
Murray to Win & Over 20.5 Games
Galan v Humbert Over 22.5 Games
Shelton to win the first set v Djere
