Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina)

All the headlines here go to the elimination of World Number 1 Novak Djokovic at the hands of Dusan Lajovic! Again the tennis legend will have to up his preparation for the French Open in the coming weeks after this disappointment. This however was not just a case of Djokovic not being at his regular levels it was also a case of Dusan Lajovic playing one of the matches of his life and playing an incredible 2 sets of tennis to win 6-4, 7-6. His next opponent will be Miomir Kecmanovic who also looked impressive against Jiri Lehecka to win 7-5, 6-0. The young Serb was a heavy underdog with the bookies for this match which gives some context regarding the level of tennis he played. Here are the scores for yesterday’s quarter final results:

A. Molcan def L. Djere: 6-2, 4-6, 7-5

A. Rublev def D. Dzumhur: 7-5, 6-3

Only 3 of the 4 Quarter Finals were played yesterday as Jannik Sinner had to withdraw from the Tournament due to sickness. In the first match played Stefanos Tsitsipas was impressive and bullied Alex De Minaur around the court to earn a comfortable 6-4, 6-2 win. Alejandro Davidovich Fokina put up a brave fight against world number 2 Carlos Alcaraz but eventually the talent of the young Spaniard came through to win 7-6, 6-4 in a match that went over 2 hours. The win of the day at Barcelona goes to Dan Evans who put a gritty fight to beat Francisco Cerundolo 2-6, 7-5, 6-3. The Brit hustled for every point and ran from side to side and also hitting some great shots in the process.

The German capital city was rain free which allowed for a whole day of tennis, Dominic Thiem had the toughest task as he had to go on court twice in one day due to previous rain delays.
