This Mares handicap hurdle looks a good opportunity for the Anthony Honeyball trained handicap debutant Somespring Special. Showed promise in point start and the again in novice hurdles notably most recently at Wincanton last time over 4f further. The drop back in trip looks the right move given the evidence we have seen and jockey Ben Godfrey takes a handy 3lbs off.

Next Best – Darbucks 4.15 Thirsk 2pt win 10/3 Unibet

Soft ground winner at Carlisle last May so no issues with underfoot conditions. Has returned from a extended break with 2 good runs on the all weather recently. Looks to be running into form and ready to strike off just 58 now, ran well here over a mile previously.

Each Way – Star Flyer 4.00 Fontwell 1pt each way 11/2 Unibet

Finished third here staying on late after getting outpaced in a Novice on latest starts. Showed promise also prior to suggest will be winning races. I think this softer ground will be more to his liking and jockey Dylan Kitts claims a further 7lbs.
